LUBBOCK, Texas– Countless gallons of beer spilled Monday morning when a train and a semi tractor-trailer collided outside the Coors Beer Distributors building on U.S. 84, the Lubbock Avalance-Journal reports.
The driver of the truck, Christina Rae Adams, 36, was turning left into the building’s parking lot from the eastbound lanes of U.S. 84 when the train struck the trailer, Department of Public Safety spokesman Cpl. John Gonzalez said.
Neither she nor two passengers in the truck were injured in the collision, which occurred at 8:30 a.m., he said.
The building’s driveway angled to the right across the railroad tracks, which may have contributed to Adams’ failure to see the train. The train was also traveling eastbound, Gonzalez said.
Adams was cited for failing to yield the right of way, he said.
The trailer and its load, beer being transported to the distributorship from Colorado, were mostly unsalvageable, Gonzalez said.
Spokeswomen for the Coors distributorship and the trucking company, Dick Simon Trucking Inc., could not provide an estimate on the amount of damage done to the trailer and its cargo.
