CLEVELAND, April 11 — BLE members on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad have a little more money in their pockets today after receiving back payments from the railroad.

Thirty four locomotive engineers were working in a craft represented by the United Transportation Union when that organization made a deal with the carrier which gave UTU members, in yard service, penalty claim settlement payments. These BLE members had submitted penalty claims — just as their UTU counterparts had — prior to March 22, 1999.

The 34 BLE claimants, who the carrier initially claimed were ineligible because they had been promoted to engineer after March 22, 1999, will now be paid $2,500 each.
