The Teamsters Rail Conference, comprised of BLET and BMWED, is supporting the No Tax on Overtime For All Workers Act (S. 4310). The legislation was introduced in the U.S. Senate last week by Sens. Jim Justice (R-WV) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA). The bipartisan bill would provide Rail Conference members and all rail workers with the same overtime tax relief that most other workers received through the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed in July 2025.
BLET National President Mark Wallace and First Vice President Gary Best met with Sen. Cantwell in January and expressed support for the overtime tax deduction being expanded to cover BLET members.
If signed into law, the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act would allow railroaders to deduct up to $25,000 of overtime pay from their taxable income.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien said: “Expanding No Taxes on Overtime to cover more Americans and more Teamsters — including those in the trucking, rail, and aviation industries — should be a no-brainer. The Teamsters commend Senators Justice and Cantwell for their leadership in advancing bipartisan, pro-worker legislation that would allow our members to keep more of their hard-earned wages and better care for their families. With strong support in both chambers, Teamsters across the country now call on Congress to pass this expansion into law.”
In March, the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act was introduced in the House by Reps. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY, 11th District), Emilia Sykes (D-OH, 13th District), Nick LaLota (R-NY, 1st District), Steven Horsford (D-NV, 4th District), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA, 1st District), and Tom Suozzi (D-NY, 3rd District).
The BLET and Teamsters Rail Conference have launched a petition in support of H.R. 5475 with the goal of securing at least 8,000 signatures. The signed petition will be presented to leaders of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over the overtime tax legislation. Currently, there are just over 7,600 signatures on the petition. Click here to add your name.
