Over a three-day period, Division 766 (Las Vegas) member Marketa Wells helped deliver 460 unused boxed lunches to The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada.

BLET delegates donated 460 prepared meals to The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada during the union’s Sixth National Convention. Sister Marketa Wells, a member of Division 766 in Las Vegas, organized daily donations of unused boxed lunches. With help from her husband, retired Division 766 member Steve Wells, and BLET National Division staff member James Grdina, she delivered the meals from the Horseshoe Casino to the Salvation Army.

“The Salvation Army was very welcoming and excited to receive the boxed lunches,” said Wells, who served as the National Guide during the convention. “They were handing them out to the homeless as soon as we brought them in.” She said the donations made a meaningful difference for people in need.

This spirit of giving is a long-standing tradition. The National Division has authorized this same charitable process at every National Convention since 2014.
