BLET recently held an inaugural meeting for its newest members at the Temple & Central Texas Railway (TC), a month after securing an organizing win at the Texas-based short line railroad. National Vice President James Logan Jr. and BLET Special Representative Brian Terpening met with workers to discuss what should be negotiated as part of their first contract and to collect BLET membership application forms.
“It was a productive meeting,” Vice President Logan said. “The brothers shared their thoughts on what they would like to achieve in their first union contract, and we walked them through the negotiating process under the Railway Labor Act. We look forward to getting down to business at the bargaining table.”
A subsidiary of Patriot Rail, TC operates over 10 miles of track in Temple, Texas, and interchanges with the BNSF Railway. Patriot Rail operates 31 regional and short line freight railroads throughout the United States. TC is the second Patriot Rail property organized by the BLET. Utah Central is the other, and BLET’s Utah Central members ratified their first union contract earlier this year.
