As part of the BLET’s effort to make members and other railroaders eligible for the overtime tax relief that most other workers received through the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed in July 2025, the BLET and the Teamsters Rail Conference have launched a petition in support of the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). This legislation would provide BLET members and all rail workers with the same overtime tax relief that other workers have recently been granted. Under the proposed bill, workers employed by railroads would be able to deduct up to $25,000 of overtime pay from their annual income for tax purposes.
This union petition drive is directed toward leaders of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over the overtime tax legislation. It is important that BLET members register support for this needed fix in tax policy both as individuals and collectively.
