Christopher Myron was reelected for a second term as Chairman of the Oregon State Legislative Board at its quadrennial meeting on September 23. Brother Myron is a BNSF locomotive engineer and a member of BLET Division 842 in Klamath Falls, Ore.
The BLET’s Oregon State Legislative Board represents 700 active and retired members from five different BLET Divisions.
Also elected were: 1st Vice Chairman Matt Kuhns, Division 236 (Portland, Ore.); Secretary-Treasurer Steve Baldwin, Division 362 (La Grande, Ore.); and Alternate Secretary-Treasurer Duane Taddei, Division 476 (Eugene, Ore.). Elected to serve on the Audit Committee were: Vance Redden, Division 842 (Klamath Falls, Ore.) and Scott Lemmon, Division 416 (Salem, Ore.).
BLET First Vice President Gary Best addressed delegates on several issues of national importance, including an update on BLET’s efforts to oppose the Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern merger. BLET Director of Political Affairs Brendan Sullivan explained why BLET members and the union need to be politically active and why member participation in the BLET-PAC Fund matters.
Additional Guest speakers included General Chairman William Wallace and BLET Auxiliary National Officers Jodi Wallace and Chris Baldwin. During the meeting, delegates honored the memory of Ryan Snow, the late Chairman of the BLET California State Legislative Board, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. Brother Snow had planned to serve as Parliamentarian during the Oregon SLB meeting.
