JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Times-Union reports that a former CSXT official is going to Washington — again.
Robert L. Gould, the company’s former assistant vice president of public affairs in Washington, has been appointed as the Federal Railroad Administration’s associate administrator for public affairs.
“Rob brings with him a wealth of communications and public affairs expertise, which he gained in both the private and public sectors,” administrator Allan Rutter said. “In addition, Rob’s broad knowledge of transportation issues, and in particular his rail industry experience will play a critical role as we move forward with our efforts to enhance the safety and efficiency of America’s rail network.”
At CSXT, Gould directed the corporation’s external communications and grass-roots efforts in support of the company’s public policy initiatives. At the Railroad Administration, he’ll direct communications and public affairs activities.
Gould had a 10-year career at CSXT’s parent company, CSX Corp., where he served in a variety of communications roles at the corporate level, as well as two of the company’s rail-related business units, CSXT and CSX Intermodal Inc.
Prior to joining CSX, Gould, a native of Pikesville, Md., directed the offices of public affairs for both the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.
