In his state of the union address, BLET National President Mark Wallace said preparation and performance are the key measuring sticks for the Brotherhood and its leaders.

“At the heart of every fight we take on is our membership — the men and women who do the work, carry the burden, and keep this Brotherhood strong,” said Wallace. “Our members don’t experience our intentions. They experience our performance. Think about that for a minute. Performance. Not promises. Performance. Not speeches. Performance. Not excuses.

“When leaders perform… Members notice. When leaders communicate… Members engage. When leaders prepare… Members gain confidence. And when leaders produce… Members produce.”

The key to a strong performance is preparation.

“I can promise you this — we will never lose because we failed to prepare. We will never lose because we failed to listen. We will never lose because we failed to work. And if we lose after we’ve done everything possible… We learn. We adjust. We come back stronger. Because quitting has never been part of this Brotherhood’s culture… And it’s never going to be part of mine. And we’re not going to quit until we’ve done everything we can to fix the problem. Because that’s what our members deserve.”
